The inimitable burning fuse and compelling music of the intro to every episode of "Mission: Impossible," from the original television show, which started in 1966. Written by Argentine composer, Lalo Schifrin, the music received two Grammys, the first for "Best Original Score," and the second for "Best Instrumental Theme." Interestingly, it's written in the fairly unusual time signature of 5/4 time.

Roy Rogers singing the classic Johnny Mercer song "I'm An Old Cowhand From The Rio Grande" from Roy's film "King Of The Cowboys" (1943). This is the only place I've been able to find his version of this song. This is posted only for educational purposes and for the enjoyment of 'cowpokes' of all ages.

Lyrics:

I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande
And I learned to ride before I learned to stand
I'm a ridin' fool who is up to date
I know every trail in the Lone Star State
'Cause I ride the range in a Ford V-8
Yippee I oh ki-ay, yippee I oh ki-ay

I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande
And I come to town just to hear the band
I know all the songs that the cowboys know
'Bout the Big Corral where the dogies go
I learned them all on the radio
Yippee I oh ki-ay, yippee I oh ki-ay

I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande
Where the west is wild 'round the borderland
Where the buffalo roam around the zoo
And the Indians'll make you a rug or two
And the old Bar X is just a barbecue
Yippee I oh ki-ay, Yippee I oh ki-ay

The new single from The Jody Band is the happy result of the joyous reunion of Ed, Slim, John and James. Written, arranged and recorded in only a few days, it provides an uplifting message of hope and self-determination as the years roll by. We all "hear our dreams calling," and we all must "play the cards in your hand." Enjoy each day, and enjoy this song!
