This past summer six Lang undergraduates ( http://www.newschool.edu/lang) received financial support and mentoring to participate in research and internship experiences with a nonprofit or government agency as a means to explore their academic, personal, and professional interests in the area of social justice. The fellows will provide short presentations on their summer learning experiences.

Steven Houang is completing his senior year as an Interdisciplinary Science Major. A first generation Taiwanese American immigrant, Steven has a special interest in social justice and the health issues faced by minority groups. He was a founding member of the Peer Health Advocates Program at The New School and this past summer conducted research on community health through a Hunt Foundation Fellowship at the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. As a Hunt Foundation Fellow, Steven worked on a project assessing care coordination programs for people living with HIV/AIDS. He will be graduating this December and will explore careers in health information technology and public health.
